How Does the HBWV Work?

 Simply by using the weight of the basket when it is either wet or dry

• When the basket is dry (and the pot is light) it moves upward, the HBWV then opens the  water flow and water gently sprinkles from the bottom of the HBWV until the  basket is wet (and the pot is heavy) and moves downward.

 

• At this point the HBWV shuts off the water flow until the basket again is dry enough to open it again. Then the cycle repeats as needed.

Depending on the weather conditions this cycle could repeat it self multiple times per day or not at all for days on end. This conserves water as well as encourages deep root growth because as the soil is not always wet, the roots are forced to reach for moisture for parts of the cycle time.

The HBWV needs an initial easy adjustment to establish a moisture level you would like in the basket. From that point on the weight of the basket with flowers and soil changes slightly as the plants grow throughout the season and only a slight modification of the initial setting might be required.

 By only watering when the basket lacks moisture, and not regularly, as with a preset timer, you can conserve water and save money as well. Say good bye to hand watering. The HBWV waters ‘worry free’ so you can leave your baskets unattended for weekends or weeks or even  months at a time. No need to be concerned if the neighbor is remembering to water your plants or if she is giving them too much or too little water. No need to worry about the temperature or about the weather.
